Top-rated international speaker, sound expert and author of “Sound Business, Julian Treasure demonstrates some useful vocal exercises and shares tips on how to speak in ways that will keep listeners attention and also encourage more people to want to listen to you.
In this humorous, but enlightening video, Julian begins by labeling, what he believes to be, are the seven deadly sins of conversation which discourage people from wanting to listen to us.
He also goes on to say that these are not the only ‘sins’, but what he feels are the major sins. These include; Gossip, Judging, Negativity, Complaining, Excuses, Lying and Dogmatism.
Before you give up in despair, he does provide four positive and powerful ways to improve our conversation and communication styles. He expresses these points by using the acronym ‘HAIL.’

Other ways to enhance our speaking include monitoring how we say things in our speech patterns. For example, by making use of; Register, Timbre, Prosody, Pace, Pitch and Volume, to name a few.
At the end of the video Julian leads the audience through some simple warm-up exercises that he recommends we employ before making speeches, presentations, etc.
