In this video, motivational speaker, high performance trainer and celebrity marketing advisor, Brendon Burchard talks about the stunning costs of distraction.
Burchard is the founder of High Performance Academy and Experts Academy. He is also a #1 New York Times bestselling author whose books include The Millionaire Messenger, Life’s Golden Ticket and The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives that Make You Feel Alive.
In answer to the question “Why don’t people succeed?” Burchard believes that it’s not because most people are dumb or lazy. In fact, he feels that they are busy, smart and intelligent, but perhaps they are smart and intelligent at meaningless things.
He doesn’t pull any punches, but he is not directing personal attacks at anyone. He is merely pointing out what may very well be true for a large number of people, even though they may not want to hear it.
He states that some people are “mis-aiming their potential” and are doing busy work, which is not necessarily their life’s work. He gives the classic example of how much time is wasted watching television and how expensive distraction really is.
The first part of the solution he offers is to begin with a particular decision. However, Burchard can explain this better than I can. So, I’ll leave the rest to him.
